monday (finds)

well, i am back home after spending the holidays with my parents.  i had a really nice trip home, including a visit to my alma mater, lunch at five guys (there's also one in my area that i can't wait to visit!), a fro-yo experience (finally--there are literally none where i live!), and coffee with viktoria.  i feel pretty lucky to have become close blogger friends with viktoria and to have the chance to meet her in person!

on our final stretch home today, we stopped at a goodwill near the minnesota/wisconsin border that i don't often make it to.  i ended up coming away with an xxl merona dress that i am hopefully going to refashion into a blouse or cardigan, a book, some light pink stretchy fabric, and... the black missoni suede pumps.  now, i never got into the missoni craze when it hit target stores, and although i was drawn to these heels because they're not overly crazy, i never would have paid full price for them.  i even passed them up when they were marked down at my local target store.  but seeing them at the goodwill with that red tag (target stock) was definitely a sign, especially since i have now worn straight through the bottom of my beloved lela rose for payless black heels.  they were priced at $14.99, which is the most expensive item i have ever purchased at goodwill, but they were regularly $39.99 in stores.  and can you believe that there were three other pairs?  here's a glimpse at what i often see when i go to the goodwill... this one had so much target stock.  remember when i was so excited when i found that skirt on clearance at a target store?

anyway, i look forward to getting back to my regular posting schedule since i'll be back at the office tomorrow, and sewing as well!  you have one last chance to win my giveaway for a handmade skirt made by me, so do enter today before i draw a winner tomorrow!
