i am starting to try to take advantage of my two fifteen minute breaks during the workday (that i usually never take) to be outside and walk around the block my building is situated on.  it's maybe 1/2 mile if anything but it feels good to be in the fresh air even if i'm not burning many calories.  i'll probably be wearing more flats as we transition seasons so my heels or wedges don't turn into an excuse not to do this.  i have to counteract the ever present donuts that are always around my workplace somehow!

are there a lot of snacks and treats that float around your workplace?  holy man, i'm convinced we single-handedly keep the bakery department at the grocery store down the road in the doughnut business and there's a potluck for some event at least once a month.  i have developed good self-control lately but sometimes i just wish someone would bring in a fruit tray, ya know?  is it too much to ask for fruit?!  time to stock my desk drawer with granola bars or nuts or something healthier i guess!

more green.

i've been wearing green every day this week in an effort to link up with andi, heather, and ashley but of course the week got away from me and i fizzled out on blogging the latter part of the week.  one of these days i'll get my act together but most days i come home and try to get on the treadmill, then cook dinner, then lay on the couch and watch prime time tv, then i inevitably fall asleep and wake up intermittently until i finally drag myself to bed and, well, then there's no blogging.  i know, i live an exciting life!  so here's my outfits from yesterday and today (friday).

i'm not sure if anyone at work noticed that i wore green every day of the week but i'll tell ya, i have one resident (i work in a nursing home) who always notices when i wear heels and makes sure to reprimand me.  she is convinced i will break an ankle, wear out my knees, or any other number of perilous events may happen to me.  i've cut back drastically on wearing heels since starting this new job, so i find it amusing that she always zones in on me on the rare days i do wear heels!

have a great weekend!

layered blouses.

merona chiffon blouse   ·   merona button-down {thrifted}
old navy sweetheart boot-cut jeans   ·   worthington booties

this is what i wore to my last day of work yesterday last friday.  this blouse has been hanging on the back of my closet door for over a month now, i guess i bought it during the wrong season because nothing about having temperatures where the high for the day is below zero (yes, i said high) calls for wearing short sleeves. but when you live in a wintry climate, you get creative about layering and i think the button-down underneath it worked!

since i don't have a reason to wear my pencil skirts and heels anymore while i'm job searching and just at home, i'm using this outfit as a starting point for inspiration to put together looks that are more casual but will still allow me to feel like myself and how i like to get dressed.  thanks to you all for your wonderfully supportive comments on my last post.  it meant so much.  have a wonderful week!
