i've been wearing green every day this week in an effort to link up with andi, heather, and ashley but of course the week got away from me and i fizzled out on blogging the latter part of the week.  one of these days i'll get my act together but most days i come home and try to get on the treadmill, then cook dinner, then lay on the couch and watch prime time tv, then i inevitably fall asleep and wake up intermittently until i finally drag myself to bed and, well, then there's no blogging.  i know, i live an exciting life!  so here's my outfits from yesterday and today (friday).  

i'm not sure if anyone at work noticed that i wore green every day of the week but i'll tell ya, i have one resident (i work in a nursing home) who always notices when i wear heels and makes sure to reprimand me.  she is convinced i will break an ankle, wear out my knees, or any other number of perilous events may happen to me.  i've cut back drastically on wearing heels since starting this new job, so i find it amusing that she always zones in on me on the rare days i do wear heels!

caroline recently showed off some necklaces she purchased from our world boutique, which prompted me to browse through their jewelry section and of course a handful of necklaces immediately caught my eye!  i love a good statement necklace and was really impressed with the quality of the ones i purchased.  i didn't have any ideas about what outfits i may create around this one but somehow this ensemble magically came together.  i love the way this outfit looks with the addition of this necklace!  talk about the power of a perfect accessory.  

because the necklace chain is gold i wanted to wear my gold heels, but if i had i figured people at work would have looked at me as if i were an alien so i substituted for these low metallic wedges.  i've been struggling with the feeling that i can't wear some of the "bolder" clothes/shoes i love to my new workplace based on the reaction i've received from some outfits i've already worn since being there.  i think everyone has a limit to how far they'll push themselves with the outward expression of their clothing and i guess i am finding that boundary.

maybe my coworkers will begin to think nothing of gold shoes, bright orange dresses, or animal prints if that's how i consistently dress over time even if no one else dresses similarly, but it's hard to convince myself of that some days no matter how innocuous someone's remark or comment about what i'm wearing may be.  the irony is that dressing in bold prints and bright colors helps me feel more confident when really i'm a pretty introverted person... so i don't want that to push me back into the shell that fashion has helped me escape from these past few years.

can you tell i've had some struggles dressing for my new job i started a little over a month ago!  :)  have you encountered anything similar at your workplace(s)?  thanks so much for reading & visiting!

so, here's my question for today... what is your discomfort/annoyance threshold with clothing, shoes, accessories?  do you have a high tolerance for pinchy shoes or would you prefer everything you wear to feel like pajamas?  i often think i land somewhere in the middle; i mean, no one really wants to be uncomfortable but i suppose it can't be avoided if you are wearing something for the first time or just grabbed your usual size of shoes from the rack and didn't try them on first.  

well, such is the case with these wedges i'm wearing today.  i spotted them at the goodwill and knew they were donated target stock.  i saw my size on the bottom sole of one shoe and since the pair was connected with elasticized string i assumed they were both the same size.  it wasn't until i got home that i realized one of the shoes is a half size smaller!  to understand why i didn't check the soles of both shoes you would have to get into my head when i am thrifting... with my goodwill googles on, my eyes are so focused on spotting the target stock, especially in the shoes, that when i see something in my size i grab it.  i haven't found many target stock shoes lately and was so excited about these cute metallic wedges.  plus, i guess you just assume shoes that are attached or are sitting together are the same size!

anyway, for $2.99 i was willing to give these mismatched wedges a try.  the smaller shoe was a bit pinchy but not intolerable so i guess it was 3 bucks well spent.  has something like this ever happened to you before?  are you a crazy, focused thrifter like i am?
