swiss dots & fitbits.

i am still following the hanger trick in my closet by rotating the hanger around after i wear something, but that hasn't stoped me from continuing to reach for those items.  in fact, i have all but abandoned by vast, colorful collection of button-down shirts.  maybe i need to make some hard decisions about how many button-downs i want to take up space in my closet if i never wear them!  3/4 sleeve blouses like this one from old navy seem more versatile and there's no awkward button-gaping.  i haven't worn this one in a while but was reminded how much i love the teal blue color and swiss dots!

the warmer weather definitely pushes me to want to move away from my daily treadmill walks to walking outside again and increasing my activity level, so with these thoughts i caved and got a fitbit charge.  three of my friends and a coworker have one so i feel i've gotten a good grasp about the pros and cons.  i'm naturally curious about how many steps i take in a normal working day so i think it will be a good tool to have to increase my activity and that hopefully lead to healthier habits and weight loss.  i also think i am going to be really motivated by my progress throughout the day or doing challenges with my friends.

do any of you guys have a fitbit?  i can't say i've noticed any of my fellow blogging friends wearing one so i'd be curious to hear if anyone does and what your experience has been!

linen & lace & potlucks.

{ exact top / exact pants / exact wedges or same style in herringbone - cute! }

i was so excited to wear this top today as the temps surpassed 70 degrees here in minnesota - in april, what the what.  of course it brought some severe weather, but that windy warmness was so delightful and this was the perfect top to wear.  i didn't want to add a necklace that may detract from the pretty lace detailing around the neckline and sleeves but i felt a bit bare without any jewelry so i added the bangle that ended up complementing the shoes quite well.  i don't have many bracelets anymore as their annoyance factor overrides their fashion impact but i'm glad i have a couple still laying around for outfits like these!

so, i don't know what your guys's workplaces are like, but it seems like there is always a potluck where i work (a nursing home).  next week there is a baby shower/potluck for one of the nurses in our memory care unit, and a couple weeks after that is another potluck/going away party for our DON who is retiring.  i always feel it important to participate in these events, even if i struggle coming up with appropriate recipes to share that can be served at room temperature or chilled and that can feed a large number of people.

after doing some hardcore googling, i stumbled upon the chex website and found a recipe for chex muddy buddies geared toward the celebration of a baby boy - and i thought that would be perfect for the baby shower potluck!  i may even scour the party aisles of target to find mini take-out boxes to put individual servings in so the nurses or aides can just grab one to quickly eat since their days are so busy caring for our residents.  i would like to think i am a pretty creative & crafty person but i never actually put any of the ideas i come across into action, so now i am actually kind of excited for this party!  do you have any go-to potluck recipes to feed a crowd?  i made hidden valley oyster crackers a couple times last year for various parties, which is so simple and usually goes over pretty well!

thanks for visiting!

i am one of those people who has to wear new clothes i buy right away. i mean, instant new outfit = little thinking!  if too much time passes and i haven't worn something new it makes me think it was not a good purchase. i'm glad to say these pants and wedges were good additions to my closest though. i don't always have the best luck at thredup but these pants fit perfectly and are the right ankle length for my taste.  a -11 starting temp this morning wasn't going to keep me away from these pants!!  and the fun metallic wedges (thanks again caroline) added a fun touch especially as they played off the gold in the necklace and the rose hue of my sweater.

thanks for visiting!!
