what can i say about this dress?  i love it!  this outfit looks similar to what i put together the last time i wore it with a scarf and belt and i think i may also have been channeling caroline, but i loved the overall effect!  after wearing this outfit, i scrolled through my archives and was actually surprised to learn i have only worn this dress about once a month since i purchased it back in september 2014.  i've also only worn it with a statement necklace or scarf.  the material is pretty thick so layering a cardigan over it wouldn't work that well but maybe a blazer or denim jacket would?  or maybe i should try gray tights if i wear it again this winter (yes, it still feels like winter where i live).  i feel like there are many combinations i haven't thought of yet and that i should be a bit more creative the next time i reach for it.  can you think of another way i can wear this dress?  here's how i've worn it so far:

happy monday! can i start off the week by talking about shoes?  i had a prepaid reward card i kept losing money on because i wasn't using it fast enough, so before the month of march was over i knew i wanted to spend the remaining balance.  the problem was, i didn't have many virtual shopping carts filled with items i wanted to keep an eye on.  i finally stumbled upon this pair of shoes at dsw.com and met my threshold of the card's balance.  is there too much going on with the faux-wedge/thick cone heel and cutout strap across my foot?  i wear my cognac colored wedges to death, so i figured having another shoe in a similar color but different style would be worthwhile.  plus, they meet the criteria i have for shoes these days (flat, wedge, or mary jane) and my resident who always scolds me for wearing high heels said they were a better alternative, so i guess they're keepers!

this sweater was also quite the find at kohl's yesterday!  i had a 20% off friends & family coupon plus i received a random $10 coupon in the mail.  i took a hot lap around the store and couldn't find anything in the shoe department or jewelry section that would come to around $10.  as i was about to leave, i saw a display of these sweaters in every color imaginable and i caught sight of a yellow clearance sticker on one of the tags.  they were marked down to $9!  i quickly grabbed two for myself and one for my sister and walked out of the store with all three for $13.  now that's my kind of deal!

more blinding yellow neon coming your way (more can be found here)!  i think the tan skirt and shoes helped tone it down some but really, as i look out into the sea of people in head to toe black and zip-up hoodies and cargo capris at my workplace, i think i'm okay if i stand out for wearing bright yellow!

if this isn't the easiest outfit i've ever put together, i don't know what is.  the scarf and the shoes were ridiculous deals from target yesterday, so why not wear them right away.  have you used your target coupons yet?!  these shoes were an online return priced at $9.06, you can do the math to what they came to after using my $5 merona shoe coupon.  i know!  i also used my $5 off accessory purchase of $20 or more on two clearanced scarves, including this one, and a tote {mine's emerald green} that was marked down to $8.98 {what?!} bottom line:  one pair of flats, two scarves, giant tote for $23.  have you gotten any deals at target lately?
