most complimented.

merona ponte fit & flare dress
dexter claire flats
ourworldboutique necklace

if i were to give out awards to the items in my closet, this dress may receive "most complimented" - and the funny thing is, today is my first time wearing it because i just bought it yesterday thanks to the 25% off women's clothing cartwheel that popped up this week.  now, don't misunderstand me... i'm definitely not saying that i was complimented, it was all the dress.  i love the thick ponte knit, the 3/4 sleeves, and the pockets (that i didn't even know existed until i put it on this morning).  is this not the perfect dress?!  i'm looking forward to going through all of my solid colored button-downs to layer underneath it matched with a coordinating necklace (you know me).

get the look:  exact dress {i have my eye on the solid green one too} / similar flats / exact necklace {get 25% off with code "heyoctober"}

tuesday (simplicity)

united colors of benneton button-down {thrifted}
handmade (by me) skirt   &mittot;   merona mari heels

i am really excited to share this outfit today because ahh, i made this skirt and i am so proud of it!  i still get such a thrill over being able to say that.  the fabric is likely upholstery fabric but you know i don't shy away from making skirts out of non-skirt fabric.  i like the heavier weight of the fabric and the print really stood out to me as something i would be attracted to in a store-bought skirt.  overall, i'm pretty satisfied with this simplicity pattern that i've made a few skirts from now... the only struggle i have is making the correct size but this one came out perfectly.  thanks for visiting!

tuesday {predictable}

united colors of benneton button-down {thrifted}   ·    handmade (by me) skirt
merona mari pumps {thrifted target stock}  ·   forever 21 necklace

predictable / i have a one track mind when putting together outfits sometimes.  i tried to force myself not to wear my cognac leather belt and heels of the same shade (a la this outfit) and wear a different colored belt and different shoes but it was not happening today.  i'm not sure whether or not to apologize for wearing the same silhouette over & over or to feel comfortable with the fact that i've found a formula that appeals to me aesthetically.  do you ever have to force yourself to be creative {i definitely have it in me!} so you don't feel so predictable?

i whipped up this skirt over the weekend, it came together so fast and i'm really looking forward to wearing it again sometime soon with a different color scheme.  thanks for visiting!
