wednesday (blazin')

gap button-up {thrifted}   j crew v-neck sweater {thrifted}
old navy blazer {thrifted}   merona slacks {thrifted target stock}
blowfish blyth booties   forever 21 necklace

i am starting to really love blazers.  i had to pop into the goodwill last night to look at the racks of blazers, even though i've already met my janaury clothing budget.  it's funny how something you never really paid a passing glance to can start to become a staple in your wardrobe.  i think the key is just finding the right type of blazer, and up until now i've been put off by all the bulky and oversized offerings i've seen.  i think gems like the one i'm wearing today exist though, hidden between those bulky ones, and the key is to dig through the racks to find them!  this is one of my favorite thrifted items of all time, and hopefully i can continue to add to it!

thursday (layered)

old navy faceted button cardigan {thrifted}   merona classic heritage shirt {thrifted target stock}
merona slacks {thrifted target stock}   blowfish blyth booties   target necklace {thrifted target stock}

today was so cold, but i wanted to look nice and work appropriate while still finding a way to be warm.  so, out came the layers.  i really liked the effect of the turtleneck layered underneath the button-down shirt, layered underneath the cardigan, in calming pastel colors.  i like to think that just because it's winter & it's cold doesn't mean that i have to dress in dark colors and heavy fabrics.

friday (exhausted)

xhilaration flutter sleeve blouse {thrifted target stock}   mossimo cardigan {thrifted}
merona slacks {thrifted target stock}   blowfish blyth booties   merona scarf

i am so thankful for this friday.  i love my job, but this workweek left me drained too many days this week. so, i leave you now to dig into the simplicity website so i can figure out what patterns i want to buy on sunday when they are on sale for 99cent at joanns.  i really think that i want to move past my simple elastic waistband skirts that i have cranked out a lot of in a few short months and challenge myself to actually make some garments since i do enjoy working with patterns.  and i need to use those zippers viktoria gifted me!  i have a vision of a full skirt with a couple pleats in the front in my mind, so hopefully i can find a similar pattern.  are you going to be up to anything crafty this weekend?

thursday (discomfort)

merona artist cardigan {thrifted target stock}   old navy ruffle blouse
mossimo slacks {thrifted}   target necklace   blowfish blyth booties

i've been sitting with a lot of discomfort all afternoon - so if i don't look super enthused, that's why.  i've been communicating with a caregiver about the program i work for and the care coordination we provide seniors in our area.  she is interested in this for her mother, who is currently in transition.  i've had several phone calls with the daughter and have started to create a rapport with her, and we agreed to wait until her mother transitioned home before my coming out and completing our assessment with her to further identify her strengths & needs.  unfortunately, i am going to be out of town next week when the family would likely wish this assessment to take place.  nonetheless, it seemed really out of the blue to me when my boss decided to transfer this case to my coworker, who has received the last five new intakes.  she is older and has more experience in our field, but i feel that i need to gain that experience just as much... and it's difficult when i am not given the opportunity to do so with our new clients.

i'm the type of person who has to mull certain things over and collect my thoughts before i feel ready to express it verbally, but i think i need to talk to my boss about this tomorrow.  i've also been telling myself that maybe there's another reason why my coworker needs to move forward with this case instead of i.  as a new (and young looking) social worker, i am really cognizant about how i present myself with the hope that i come across professional and competent - through my dress, my words, and my actions, but i still experience feelings of inadequacy.  i hope this is a universal experience others can relate to!  i am just praying that everything works out for the best, and maybe the next inquiry to come to our organization will be a client better suited to work with me & i just need to wait for it.  well, i am going to leave with that hope.  have a good evening, and thanks to anyone who read this!

monday (dullsville)

coldwater creek turtleneck sweater {thrifted}   mossimo slacks {thrifted target stock}
blowfish blyth booties   handmade necklace {from jewelry show}
i know what you're thinking, it's okay:  this outfit is dullsville.  i felt that way too, but it feels like it's been so long since i've posted that i had to throw this up.  i haven't quite gotten into a rhythm of what/when to post on the weekends.  so, now that we're here let's talk about this dull outfit.  for some reason, i lose all creativity in getting dressed when i know i have a home visit with a client of a different culture, just because i feel i need to dress down, more modestly, and in shoes that are easily removable at the front door.  unfortunately, as soon as i pulled up to the visit i had today, i got a call from my interpreter cancelling.  so, you'll probably see me in something as equally as dull later this week when my home visit is rescheduled.

wednesday (pants: take three)

 old navy cardigan, blouse, and scarf {thrifted}
merona slacks {thrifted target stock}   blowfish blyth booties
honestly, it's only mid-week and i am already sick of wearing slacks.  i feel less creative, as opposed to when i'm wearing a skirt with a fun or colorful print.  enter:  fun accessory.  i found this scarf at the goodwill in georgia a couple weeks ago, i knew it was old navy immediately from the print and i really liked the price tag of $1.91.  i love how you can pick out the navy, teal, green, or magenta colors to base the rest of your outfit around.  i certainly don't need to be wearing a scarf in my new environment since i am constantly on the go, but it is still a nice accessory with a fun print - something i've been missing in all of my skirts that i'm not wearing since this is pants week!  thanks for joining me!

wednesday (cozy)

old navy open knit cocoon cardigan   old navy long sleeved tee
merona doubleweave slacks {thrifted new}   target necklace
target belt {thrifted new}   blowfish blyth booties
i feel like this look is a little different for me, but i love it.  when i placed an oldnavy.com order recently, i scoured the website for days so i could meet the free shipping requirement and also take advantage of another % off promo they were having, and this cardigan is one of the items that made its way into my cart!  there's no closure and looks a little silly left open (maybe a size smaller would work better), so when i doubt... belt it!  i felt comfy & cozy all day.  thanks for stopping by!
