if i look exceptionally happy in these pictures it's because they were taken last friday when i left work at noon!  the past week and a half at work has been more busy than usual for me as i've been tasked with handling the admissions process at the nursing home where i work due to the other individuals who handle this responsibility being absent.  there are so many fine details one doesn't really realize need to be addressed when someone is at the hospital and preparing to discharge to a nursing home for rehabilitation--but i feel great knowing i am learning more skills in this department and that i've gotten good feedback from colleagues that i really keep my calm amidst the craziness.  i think that's the best compliment i could receive!

because i've put in so many extra hours lately, i only needed to work five hours on friday so that is all i worked!  i came home, ate my lunch on my deck with no threat of inhaling secondhand smoke from my neighbors as they were gone (this was the biggest joy of my day!).  then i went for a walk around the neighborhood and spent the rest of the day relaxing and reading--precisely what i needed.

here's to hoping we all find some rest and relaxation this week!

all the mossimo.

hey target, i'm wearing all your things!  isn't it funny how some outfits come together to feature items from the same brand?  i have been so annoyed with my favorite old navy jeans as every time i order what i think is my size online they end up not fitting at all. i'm sure this could be solved if i actually went to a store and tried jeans on but the same style and size i already have should fit, right?  i just can't figure it out.  anyway, there was a cartwheel for women's jeans at target last week so i tried on a couple pairs and these fit amazingly!   i like that they're not quite as skin tight as skinny jeans and that they have a lot of stretch so they're really comfortable.  they also ended up being about the same price with the cartwheel and my red card as old navy jeans are when they go on sale.  i'll definitely be looking for more jeans from target in this straight style in the future!

speaking of target, they recently released another beauty box (it's already sold out, sorry!), so before i ordered it of course i had to peruse the clearance.  i've had this blouse saved in my shopping bag for a while and with another 10% clearance promo i grabbed it and a necklace.  i'll probably dust off my sewing machine and slim the sides a tiny bit but otherwise it's a great blouse i can wear year round that was less than $8!  it surprisingly received a lot of compliments at work, too, which always makes something stand out as a winner.

thanks for visiting!

throw on blouse.

i'm always on the look out at the goodwill for what i think of as "throw on" blouses. they are colorful or patterned blouses that work well with pants, skirts, casually, or to wear to work.  you pick a color and match a bottom to it, match your shoes to it, whatever - and you're good to go.  one of my favorite blouses of all time is a thrifted a.n.a blouse that fits this description perfectly. i think this one will definitely do as well!  i just have to figure out a way to deal with the longer hem - the messy half-tuck thing here wasn't really working for me, but that problem should be solved if i wear it next time with a skirt!

wear today.

i'm definitely not one of those people who buys something and then waits weeks or months to wear it.  my MO is more like: buy today, wear tomorrow.  if something sits in my closet for too long without being worn, it's usually an indication that it wasn't a good purchase to begin with.  maybe i should pull out these items and see if i can notice any patterns.

i found this blouse at the goodwill yesterday and since i was kind of down in the dumps about my outfits from last week i decided just to wear it because it is new and new things always feel good the first time you wear them.  oddly enough, it looks nearly like an outfit i wore two weeks ago (i had to force myself not to wear a button-down underneath this blouse too), but i think it worked - the print on the blouse provided enough detail that the navy skirt and gray tights didn't feel too boring and no jewelry was really necessary.  not bad for a monday!  thanks for visiting!
