i shared a review of this dress recently and of course i couldn't wait to wear it to work.  i threw this same shirt on for sake of taking a quick picture for the review but liked it enough to recreate it today.  it's rare that i don't belt a shift dress but i didn't want there to be too much going on since i added the necklace--which was pointless anyway, as it kept getting lost underneath the collar of the dress.  i'm fairly certain i'll love this dress no matter what i layer underneath or over it or how i accessorize, so i'm already looking forward to round two!  thanks for visiting!

there aren't many clothing or accessory items i pine after or long to have in my closet.  i rarely see something on someone else and say, "i have to have that!"  BUT i have always had in the back of my mind that i wanted a pair of toms desert wedge boots.  i've tried a pair from old navy (since donated) and a pair from merona, but neither have been exactly what i had in mind.  so when toms offered 25% off the weekend of thanksgiving it was time to buy as i've never seen a discount that big.  i knew as soon as i tried them on right out of the box (they were still cold from being on a UPS truck all day!) that i made a good choice. even though i may not long for the trendy items you see pop up multiple times on your blog feed a day (does everyone have a blanket scarf yet??), i do hope to continue to have that feeling with future clothing items i buy because i love these shoes!!

when you live in a part of the world that experiences winter, you learn how to layer up to withstand the cold.  i used to think turtlenecks were so silly, but i've come to take advantage of wearing them from time to time each winter for extra warmth.  even though my arms are mostly bare, the turtleneck acted like a base layer underneath the flannel, and the quilted vest kept my core warm enough for an afternoon out for free sandwiches and fro-yo this past weekend when it was about 40 degrees.  my twin sister and i have a birthday this week (friday!) and the freebie offers have already started rolling into our email inboxes, so i have a feeling we'll be eating and shopping pretty good this week!

this is usually an outfit you'd see me post on friday or over the weekend, and i actually wore it last friday but just didn't get it posted.  so it may seem a little out of place to see it appear mid-week, but maybe not - either way, i loved this outfit and wanted to share it!  for whatever reason, i've wanted a quilted vest since this time last year and finally purchased this one from old navy with a % off deal and gift card after seeing it on katie (maybe i can blame her for making me want to buy a new plaid shirt to go with it!).  this type of outerwear has a shelf life of about a week where i live, but i'm trying to get a good amount of wear out of it layered with fun plaid button downs underneath because that just seems to work!
