HAPPY FRIDAY.  HAPPY FRIDAY (!) indeed.

monday (paisley)

 j crew pilar paisley cami {thrifted}   gap cardigan {thrifted}
banana republic skirt {thrifted}
target glitter belt {thrifted target stock}   mari faux crocodile pumps

i've only worn this j crew blouse once since thrifting it last september, so it was time to let it make another appearance.  i didn't really like the pinkish colored cardigan i wore with it last time, but there's an ever so faint mint green and yellow in the print that matched nicely with this pale yellow cardigan.  i will forever sing the praises of this navy banana republic skirt, i can't believe how versatile it is in my closet and how (i think) it looks great with anything.  i feel really great when i put outfits like this together knowing that everything came from the goodwill!

thursday (moving day!)

ann taylor loft blouse {thrifted}   merona artist cardigan {thrifted target stock}
old navy diva skinny jeans   american eagle myles riding boots

i did indeed wear this to work today in the middle of the week.  my office moved offices today, so we were allowed to wear jeans... i didn't think it would be that necessary, as a moving company picked up our plastic crates of belongings and brought them to our new office, which was literally to the building behind us... but it was fun to be a bit more casual today!  i'm glad i was wearing jeans as well when i found myself crawling underneath my new desk moving around cords to phones and computers.  i'm pretty blessed to have the career that i do and that it's continuing to grow and afford me new opportunities and experiences.  it's a wonderful feeling to love what you do so much.  have a wonderful evening!!

monday (colorful)

merona cardigan {thrifted new}
xhilaration dress as skirt {thrifted & refashioned}
american eagle myles riding boots   target belt {thrifted new}

it was so fun to be in a different state this past week enjoying the thanksgiving holidays with my family, as i had the chance to check out some different goodwills!  the goodwills in georgia are really different from the ones i am used to here in minnesota.  each style of clothing is set at a standard price {ex: all dresses are $5.95} and given a colored tag and the colored tag sale lasts all week.  it was also interesting to see the different types of clothes that the goodwills in georgia had.  i could have really scooped up on vintage skirts in every color of the rainbow... but i only got a couple items, including this xl xhilaration dress that i chopped up and turned into this skirt.  i think i have a cardigan that would match every color in this skirt's pattern, which really excites me!  the pattern is so fun & colorful, which is just what i needed on my first day back to the office after being gone a week.

i hope you all had a great holiday and that the week is starting off well for you!  thanks for dropping by!

sunday (challenged: striped sweater)

old navy striped sweater {temporarily swapped}   old navy button-down
old navy diva skinny jeans   target necklace {thrifted new}   american eagle myles riding boots

this week my friend whitney from between the lines and i will be participating in a challenge to style some of each other's clothes that we get stuck wearing the same way over & over.  last week we each sent each other 5-7 items to style throughout this week.  when i got whitney's box, i squealed.  i mean, talk about excitement when you get a box of goodies to play with the entire week.  the first thing i did was stalk her blog to see how she wore the items she sent me and then try to get a rough idea of how i might work parts of her wardrobe into my week.  thankfully, we both have careers where we dress with a business casual mindset and we both love skirts & cardigans.  in fact, we might dress too much alike as it is because i sent her a blouse of mine to style this week that she already owns!  sorry whitney!

so, i couldn't find a picture of whitney wearing this sweater and it was one that kind of stumped me the most.  you may have noticed that i don't own anything striped in my wardrobe!  so, i'm starting the week off by getting out of my comfort zone right away and styling this cute striped sweater whitney sent me.  it's also nice to show how i style something more casually on the weekend as well.  so, for my first striped item how did i do?  i think i decided that i definitely need some stripes in my wardrobe!

tuesday (table-clothing)

thrifted tablecloth turned skirt  old navy cardigan
target belt {thrifted new}   mossimo kachiri boots
i've mentioned a couple times how i bought this yellow tablecloth at the goodwill for $1.99 and it was big enough to cut two skirts out of with some leftover fabric for pockets for future skirts.  so, two skirts for $1 each?  yes, please.  i've found myself gradually wanting to add more yellow into my wardrobe, with the first skirt i made and an embossed yellow belt and now with this skirt.  i used to worry about wearing certain colors, not knowing if they "went well" with my skin tone or hair color, but now i just wear what i love... and right now, i definitely love yellow!

here is a picture of the tablecloth before i got cutting:
 thanks for reading!

wednesday (ordeals)

mossimo draped elastic waist dress   gap cardigan   f21 medieval filigree bangle
merona leather belt {thrifted new}   old navy sliver wedge boots
i had a long night last night.  i brought my car into a shop to get new tires at 5pm, expecting it would only take about an hour, as that is the time i was quoted.  i also thought that by making an appointment, they would be prepared for my arrival and stagger any other appointments or walk-ins they received.  well, what i thought was logical definitely wasn't reality as it took three hours for the tire installation to be completed.  although i received an explanation about the length of time it took to complete the job, i could barely squeak an apology out of the sales associate despite my thanking them for getting the job done.  it made me feel like my time wasn't a concern.  it takes so little effort for people in retail or service industries to make customers feel validated and that their business is appreciated, and i think i have clout to say this because i have worked in three different retail jobs over the years and the managers i had at each one were adamant about providing good customer service, greeting every customer, and always doing something within the store and not just idly standing around.  anyway, i feel better now that i have new tires on my car for the impending winter, but the experience didn't leave me feeling good about giving the company my business.  has anyone else noticed this trend?

thursday (cognac)

 merona essentials cardigan {thrifted new}   old navy blouse
isaac mizrahi for target skirt {thrifted}   merona leather belt {thrifted new}
forever21 medieval filigree bracelet    apt 9 tights   old navy sliver wedge boots
 gap jean jacket   merona scarf {thrifted new}  mossimo top handle flap handbag {thrifted new}

i know it's not a "rule" anymore to match your shoes, belt, and purse, but there is a certain put-togethered feeling of matchyness that i love... well, even though my purse doesn't match.  speaking of purses, usually i never glance at the purses at the goodwill, but i reached for this one last month and noticed that its red tag signified that it was target stock.  the stitching of one end had come undone, but that was a quick fix with a sewing machine... and now i have a new purse for $1.99.  it's big enough that i can fit my nalgene bottle or dslr in there too, which i love!  have a great evening!
