mon-tues-wed

how is it that some weeks go by so slowly and others pass before you can even figure out what day it is supposed to be?  i guess that's me this week.  in an effort to get caught up i'm fast forwarding through the outfits i've worn this week instead of doing individual posts for all of them.  it's nothing you haven't seen before anyway!

i think that's enough of me for one day,  i'm off on friday but i will try to pop in tomorrow.  i hope you are all having a great week!

friday (mixed)

merona balson dress {thrifted target stock}   super old mossimo button-up
old navy cardigan   forever 21 belt   missoni for target suede pumps {thrifted target stock}
really, why can't brown & black can't be worn together?  think about how often it occurs in nature, like with animal prints.  i loved the black & tab mixed together in this outfit (even if it looks stretched out and wrinkled by the end of the day!).  in fact, i think i am going to have a hard time not wearing some shade of black & tan together whenever i wear these heels, but i think the light blue button-down was a nice addition.  here's to welcoming in the weekend with my most jazzed outfit this week... i love it.  i'll post my weekly recap tonight or tomorrow.  happy friday!

tuesday (table-clothing)

thrifted tablecloth turned skirt  old navy cardigan
target belt {thrifted new}   mossimo kachiri boots
i've mentioned a couple times how i bought this yellow tablecloth at the goodwill for $1.99 and it was big enough to cut two skirts out of with some leftover fabric for pockets for future skirts.  so, two skirts for $1 each?  yes, please.  i've found myself gradually wanting to add more yellow into my wardrobe, with the first skirt i made and an embossed yellow belt and now with this skirt.  i used to worry about wearing certain colors, not knowing if they "went well" with my skin tone or hair color, but now i just wear what i love... and right now, i definitely love yellow!

here is a picture of the tablecloth before i got cutting:
 thanks for reading!

tuesday (rested)

handmade (by me) skirt   old navy cardigan   xhilaration top
f21 braided belt   merona myka wedges   handmade (by friend) necklace

i'm trying really hard to get past this cold of mine.  last night i came home and rested on the couch, which was hard for me.  i am always going, going, going and i don't think i give my body enough time to rest without looking at a computer screen, an iphone screen, or even a book.  is anyone else like that?  maybe that is how i got sick in the first place, i was wearing my body down.  so i went to bed really early last night and i am trying to take better care of myself.  sometimes it ends up being good to experience these moments that intentionally force us to slow down (i love this jack johnson lyric: "slow down everyone, you're moving too fast").  i was thankful too that i had a home visit early this afternoon and was able to head home afterwards and work from home the rest of the day.  i always feel more comfortable in my own surroundings!  and as much as i love this skirt that i made on sunday, it was nice to swap it out for a pair of jeans.  have a great evening, everyone!

wednesday

merona collection "melissa" dress   old navy cardigan
target belt {thrifted new}   merona "myka" wedges   gleeful peacock earrings

this morning i went to a networking/educational presentation for continuing education credits for my licensure. it's always interesting to attend these types of events and to be surrounded by colleagues in my own field. like anyone who thinks a lot about their own personal style, i like to see how others in my field present themselves and, yeah, what they're wearing! unfortunately there are always few people close to my age whose attire i would be most interested in comparing/contrasting to my own and women 20-30 years older than me dress a lot differently than i do or would choose to at that age. i'm glad i wore this cute dress rather than playing it safe in black slacks and a boring top!

ps: i'm a horrible multi-tasker through & through and am trying to think of ways to take more thoughtful photos, bear with me!
