mossimo slacks & target necklace {both thrifted target stock}

for some reason, i have just never really been drawn to wearing black.  i think it's because it's a color people wear out of default, and i think there are much more interesting colors to wear so i gravitate toward those.  i definitely have several pairs of basic black slacks and a black blazer, but that's about where my black clothing ends. wearing this much black is definitely not me, but this cute 3/4 length blouse from the target clearance rack was too good to pass up since i need more 3/4 sleeved tops in my closet.  i liked trying it out today with the black slacks and colorful accessories and shoes, but i look forward to wearing it more in the future with any of my solid colored skirts!

august 29th / a pretty easy outfit to end a pretty easy week - i have worn this necklace and these shoes together before {seen here}; i like pulling the turquoise shades out of the necklace with the shoes. for some reason, this top doesn't seem as oppressively neon as a skirt or button-down i have in a very similar hue, so it felt like a safe punch of color to add against the dark navy skirt. i'm off tomorrow as well as monday for labor day so i will see you all next week! thanks for bearing with me with my crazy week and lack of posting this week!

this blazer is another recent thrifted target stock finds from the goodwill.  i think my eyes bugged out when i saw it was priced at only $1.99!  even though it's always exciting to find target stock at the goodwill, sometimes it it can be a major let down. i've deduced over the years that it can come in the form of clearance, online returns, and--unfortunately--slightly damaged items. even though i try to look over any item i buy from the goodwill pretty closely, i'm always kind of worried that in the middle of the day i'm going to discover a large rip in a seam or a tear i didn't notice because it was obscured by a print.  thankfully i didn't have on my target stock goggles when i tried this on in the fitting room and after a good look, it appeared to be in tact!

 

most clothing items, target stock or otherwise, are priced pretty standard at my goodwills but there is always fluctuation - its a major treat when you find such a great steal!  hopefully i can find many ways to wear this blazer!

as i tried to think about what outfit i wanted to build around these turquoise wedges whitney and i are wearing today for our we love target link-up, i was at a total loss.  i think it is because i have felt like all of my outfits and color combinations have felt really predictable lately.  skirt, belt, button-down is a pretty typical uniform i wear almost every day.  i hardly ever wear black and i hardly ever walk out the door without a statement necklace and a belt.

so, today i really pushed myself through the discomfort of wearing almost all black (seriously... i never wear this much black) and only one accessory in the form of a necklace.  the verdict is still out, but as i walked out the door i definitely felt pretty sharp.  it feels good to dress differently like this once in a while!

march 11th {neglected turtleneck}

i am trying to be loyal to this no longer neglected challenge, but today's outfit is a little bit of a stretch--again.  i wear this skirt all the time, the last time was in october 2012.  i love this skirt so much that i try to wear it at least once a quarter though, so it was definitely time to be worn again.  this dark brown turtleneck is another story, i haven't worn it in over a year!  now that's neglected.  since my turtleneck wearing days feel numbered, i wanted to make it a point to wear it today and try a new color combination of brown and blue accents with this skirt.  i wear a lot of different colors with this tan & cream skirt, but this may be one of my favorites.

i promise i'll dig out some more neglected pieces from my closet to wear this week!
