this look was based around the earrings i'm wearing but it feels silly to point that out as my earrings are so hard to see around my hair!  there is a detail shot in this post.  i love the combination of the navy, mint, and dark red beads that comprise my earrings and found similar colored items in my closet to wear.  this classic navy skirt pulls through for me time and time again; it almost feels magical because it always fits despite any weight fluctuations that cause me to shift other skirts to the back of my closet for being ill fitting.  isn't that the best feeling?  i pair just about every color with navy (even black!) but especially liked it with this burnt orange color.

i mentioned in a "20 things" video i posted many months back (i shudder to link to it as i don't know that i want anyone watching it again!) that i didn't really have any favorite etsy shops, but i've realized that is totally incorrect!  i forgot about wifeysinger's shop where i ordered these earrings - she has adorable beaded hoop earrings and a tassel necklace i have my eye on.  plus another new favorite, octavia bloom, who i referenced yesterday.  a friend purchased earrings for me from sweet & simple a couple birthday's ago so i try to remember to visit her shop once in a while as she's a local designer.

i never really think to go to etsy because it can feel overwhelming to browse, but i also never really remember to check out these shops that i've purchased from before.  i wish there were an easier way to keep up to date on favorite etsy shops - does anyone know if there is?

i love wearing these shoes so much because i never now what reaction they'll elicit from people.  today i was contemplating the numerous varieties of coffee at target (a chai spice coffee?  what the what!) and a woman passing by the aisle came up to me and said she loved these shoes!  she said she had a similar burgundy pair when she was younger and loved the strap across the foot.  i said that's exactly why i love them - they stay on my feet.  she also said they also looked very "downton".  haha!  i absolutely love random connections with strangers, so i'm so glad this lady approached me.  and another win for these payless heels!

i've said it before, but payless is definitely one of my favorite places to shop for shoes.  i'm in the market for a new pair of plain nude wedges and thought to check out payless first, and though i didn't find what i was looking for i came across these gems... bring on a bogo, payless!

my humility is making it hard for me to state this, but this outfit was a hit today. yay!  it must have been a combination of the skirt and heels.  one of the girls in the beauty shop at my nursing home commented on my shoes at one point this morning, and when we passed one another again in the hall later she asked where they were from.  when i said payless she was so surprised, stating that they look like they could have come from anthropologie!  i definitely took that as a compliment.  what i liked most about that interaction is that it affirmed my belief that one can get great looks for less.  and i have yet another look with this skirt to add to this post!

for today's throwback thursday fashion i'm wearing this top that sadly hadn't seen the light of day since january. the inside of the fabric is so itchy that it absolutely has to be layered with full sleeves and not the cami it came with ... not ideal for summer.  i don't have many 3/4 sleeves that would work underneath it, so it's been neglected until today!  i'm also pretty sure pale pink and hunter green is one of the most interesting color combos i've thought of in a while but i kind of think it works since the green is featured in both the skirt and necklace.  maybe i need to take inspiration from myself and layer some other colors underneath this top aside from just white!

this week the receptionist at the nursing home where i work said she never sees me wear the same thing twice. if i scroll through my archives from 2012, 2013, or 2014 {ugh, way behind on updating that one} it may seem that way but i definitely re-wear certain items a lot.  i haven't worn this skirt in over a year though so i thought it made sense for a sunny 70* day and to join the throwback fashion thursday link up at happiness at mid-life.  this is the first skirt i ever made and i still seem to get quite a few compliments on it, so hopefully it'll continue to have a place in my closet for some time to come. you can check out other ways i've worn it here.

this outfit is definitely feels like the usual me... pencil skirt, printed top, fitted blazer.  i tried it on with a cardigan first but it just didn't feel right... you know?  cardigans felt like my signature item years ago but i don't wear them as often as layering pieces anymore.  i built up such a collection of solid colored cardigans but i don't have enough printed tops to mix and match them with.  it's kind of funny how a solid colored blazer worked better with this outfit though.  does this make any sense?!  it was enough to confuse me, so i'll just end this post here!

hi everyone!  you'll have to forgive me for me absence these past few days but i have been in the throes of moving all last week. can i just say that whoa, moving is hard?  i can't even count how many trips i made to my new place with just boxes and boxes of STUFF. it's made me really reconsider what i want to keep in my life, especially since i certainly don't want to move this stuff again. anyway, my internet didn't get hooked up until yesterday so i am trying to catch up all things interwebs.  somehow i'm still taking pictures of what i wear everyday, although i am a little behind - this is what i wore monday.  a new scarf i bought from target that was an easy way to accessorize since all of my necklaces are wrapped in tissue paper in boxes, and those boxes are in boxes... hopefully they'll get unpacked and incorporated into outfits soon!

i also wanted to thank andi from just another smith for letting me co-host dresses week with her last week. since i was moving, i didn't get a chance to reply to the posts of those who joined us, but i look forward to going though our link up and visiting everyone!
