if this isn't an outfit i've worn before i'd be surprised!  "neutrals" seems to be the buzzword around the blogging community these days but me, i like my colors and patterns.  they make me feel cheerful and happy and i think it affects those i interact with to feel the same way too.  i don't want to get lost in the sea of black pants, black tops, and black shoes so many working women seem to default to (at least at my workplace.)  i think it's fun taking one colorful item as the starting point like these wedges and picking a top, bottom, it accessory that matches.  it always makes getting dressed easier in my opinion!

guys, we've made it to friday and the last day of the patone-inspired fall color challenge marissa & i have been co-hosting this week!  today we're wearing acai, a rich, deep purple.  along with tuesday's turbulence, this color gave me some pause.  i have a couple lighter purple button-downs {remember when we had african violet as one of our color selections during our spring link-up?} but nothing in a true, darker purple except this v-neck sweater.  i struggled with what to wear with it and finally came up with this outfit!  i added the top underneath in a different purple hue and then some black denim because hey, it's friday.  i was considering wearing some tall boots but then reached for these colorful flats that feature the same shades of purple - i've never worn heels or wedges with skinny jeans before but you know what... i loved this look!  what a great way to wrap up the week and this challenge in an outfit i feel fantastic in!

what's better than wearing a whole bunch of orange on a friday?!  happy weekend, friends!

i was so unhappy with the outfit that i wore yesterday.  at the last minute before i left for work i thought of this dress, but by that time it would have been too much work to change completely without the assurance this outfit would work out--i wasn't sure if the colors in the wedges would "match" as well with the dress without pulling them both out and putting them next to each other.  turns out, the purple hues in the wedges is more of a true purple, not magenta like this dress.  the green in the shoes is more lime green, not mint green like my belt, but i still think that they blend well enough to "go."  i'm really so glad i purchased these wedges at DSW a couple months ago.  even though they were more expensive than shoes i typically buy, they're interesting and coordinate with so many different outfits.

is it crazy to think that an orange dress can be one of the most versatile items in my closet?  it's definitely true!  give me color over black any day, and i'll show you it's just as--if not more--versatile.  i featured three ways to wear this dress in my initial review after receiving it from eshakti and wanted to share another option as i'm wearing it today for fran & whitney's 5 days, 5 ways challenge.  i have worn the dress one other time too that you can check out here (it's similar to the middle picture below).

oh, and please ignore the tear in my tights... i slipped on ice (again!) this morning and skinned my knee through my tights.  what am i, 6?  who skins their knees?!  at least the shoes were unscathed, that's all i can say.  i mean, how awesome are these shoes!  thanks for visiting!
