welcome to day one of the we love target link-up whitney from along the lines of style and i are hosting.  be sure to head on over to her blog to add your link!  today we are featuring tops and we are both showing off our merona popover lace blouses.  i tell you, i have been yearning for a lace top for a while.  i thought i had found the perfect one when i bought an xhilaration lace blouse, but it is unlined. so, my search continued and target came though for me again with this merona blouse.  i think it's utterly perfect and i'm sure many of you who also own it probably agree.  what are your other favorite tops from target?

i was really excited to wear this belt and these shoes today because i got such good deals on them.  i've been eying this belt in the clearance section at target for weeks now the price finally dropped to 70% off.  yes, please!  i also picked up this belt for $3 and change.  these shoes were a find at savers yesterday for $2.50.  i feel that i have more luck at the GW, but i do pop into savers whenever they have sales.  yesterday all clothes & shoes were 50% off and i was pleased to also find two great button-up shirts in colors i don't have (lavender and hot pink) and another orange cardigan (i know!).  i love thrifting!!  

 

have a great weekend - i am going to try to get started on some more skirts (like this one) so i can have my mom help me finish the waistbands and zippers over thanksgiving... that part of the construction always gives me trouble.  i have a feeling i'll have a pretty crazy assembly line going, but it'll be really rewarding and fun if i can crank out several that i can have ready to finish with my mom's help.  i have a lot of fabric in my stash i've been eager to make skirts out of.  thanks for visiting!

i know a lot of you guys compliment the simple skirts i make all the time (thank you!) but if you only knew what goes through my mind when i am looking at fabric.  not much!  if it's a print and color i like, i'll usually throw it in the cart and forget to even look at the fabric content or laundering instructions.  that was the case for this fabric, which i'm pretty sure is home decor fabric... it has held up nicely through several wears & washings though and i love that i could find another shade of blue to pull out of the print by wearing this jason wu blouse.  it was hard, but i also decided to accessorize with a color other than yellow!

 

my week has been a doosey so far, how about yours?  i have so much going on with so many of my clients, but it makes me feel as though i'm a needed support in their lives.  sometimes it's hard to measure my effectiveness though.  my coworker is hosting a happy hour tomorrow afternoon and it couldn't come at a better time.  hopefully it will be relaxing.  have a great evening!

i can't believe that i haven't paired this skirt with my yellow belt yet.  i received these shoes in the mail a couple weeks ago from a giveaway win and i figured i would go all out with the yellow accents.  after throwing on a staple cardigan, i was ready to go.  the hardest decision i had was to tuck or not to tuck.  it probably didn't matter too much what i looked like today as i sat behind a computer in a training room for three hours going through two computer trainings for my company.  i honestly didn't think that i had that much computer-related literacy to learn but i did come away with a couple new tricks for outlook that i am excited (really!) to test out.  thanks for visiting!

this shirt really stumps me.  take a look at the photo from the eshakti website - i cannot figure out how the two pieces of fabric come together to tie together or make a little bow...  i ended up tucking them both underneath my sweater and letting the shirt take on the look of a cowl.  it wasn't really the look i was going for, but it worked.  i tell ya, i am kind of bummed that i don't have much luck with clothing from eshakti, because they have some really cute dresses & tops!

today's fbff is highlighting our quintessential fall look, and this is mine!  i am not sure if there is anything better than wearing tights, knee highs, and boots when there is a little chill in the air, which was definitely the case today with a temperature this morning of just about 50 when i left for work.  thanks to iris of 260 days no repeats for hosting!

in case you're getting sick of seeing me in so many handmade skirts {1, 2, 3, 4}, this is the most recent one i've made and i don't have any others waiting in the wings to be worn.  chances are, you might not even see this one again as it's made out of home decor fabric {if i look like a curtain, that's why} and my mom so wisely informed me that the fabric might not be suited for regular machine washing.  up to this point in my sewing adventures i've gone by look and touch and haven't read the labels on the fabric bolts to learn about the fabric or its care... i'm more drawn to the print or feel of the fabric, and the price - if it's less than $3-4 a yard, it might get taken to the cutting counter.  so, we'll see what becomes of this skirt!
