may 22nd {shirred}

old navy sweater   ·   j crew shirred wool skirt {thrifted}
merona maye heels {thrifted target stock}
this skirt was one of my finds when i went thrifting with my mom this past weekend.  over the period of the week she was visiting, we went to four different goodwills, one of them twice!  i bought this skirt with the intention of selling it on ebay as it's shorter than i normally wear, but when the temps dipped back down to the 50s with rain in the forecast, it seemed like the perfect day to wear it at least once with tights!
here's a spread of some of my other goodwill finds from this week.  my clothing spending is ridiculous this month (and i know i'm not going to be able to stay away when the GW is going to be 50% off on memorial day) but it was fun thrifting with my mom and finding some good deals!
{j crew argyle & lattice print, mossimo pearce pumps, picture frame for work cube,
fun stripey placemats, old lady floral fabric for a handmade dress--it's in process!}
are you getting your target outfits ready for my link-up with whitney next week?!

friday (aqua & brown)

merona cardigan {thrifted target stock}   ·   handmade (by me) skirt
merona linen stretch belt   ·   merona mariela pumps {thrifted}

i was really excited to wear this belt and these shoes today because i got such good deals on them.  i've been eying this belt in the clearance section at target for weeks now the price finally dropped to 70% off.  yes, please!  i also picked up this belt for $3 and change.  these shoes were a find at savers yesterday for $2.50.  i feel that i have more luck at the GW, but i do pop into savers whenever they have sales.  yesterday all clothes & shoes were 50% off and i was pleased to also find two great button-up shirts in colors i don't have (lavender and hot pink) and another orange cardigan (i know!).  i love thrifting!!

have a great weekend - i am going to try to get started on some more skirts (like this one) so i can have my mom help me finish the waistbands and zippers over thanksgiving... that part of the construction always gives me trouble.  i have a feeling i'll have a pretty crazy assembly line going, but it'll be really rewarding and fun if i can crank out several that i can have ready to finish with my mom's help.  i have a lot of fabric in my stash i've been eager to make skirts out of.  thanks for visiting!

friday.

mossimo scoop neck sweater {thrifted target stock}   haberdashery blazer {thrifted}
semantiks skirt {thrifted}   mossimo wanda wedges   target belt {thrifted target stock}

three cheers for when an outfit comes together & you feel awesome all day.  am i right!  i love my printed & handmade skirts but there is also something that is so streamlined about classic-cut skirts in neutral colors and colors that pair well together.  i only wore this blazer outside as a light layer against the chilly temps this morning {and as i ran into target this afternoon to buy this dress in the blue print!}, but i loved how the blues played together and had to snap a shot of the whole ensemble.

thank you so much for dropping by this week and supporting my lil blog, have a great weekend!

thursday (reminiscing)

merona turtleneck {thrifted new}   american eagle skirt {thrifted}
parisian {dept store} necklace   mossimo kachiri boots

i've always been drawn to this picture of e. in a great teal colored long-sleeved shirt, scarf in the same hue, and a winter white skirt.  i have been waiting until the temps dip down a little bit to recreate her look.  i could have emulated it even better if i had worn this skirt, but i just wasn't feeling it with the boots.  so i put my own little spin on it and accented with browns instead of blacks, and i love it.  i had quite the aversion to turtlenecks when i was growing up, but after finding a few cheap donated target ones at the goodwill, i figured it would be worth giving a try.  i'm also anxious to pair a turtleneck with a great statement necklace and skirt like mariel.

i really don't think i would have come to these style ideas on my own had i not started reading style blogs.  does everyone remember how they found their first style blog?  i used to spend a lot of time uploading personal photos to flickr, and every once in a while i would browse through random photostreams or look at the popular photos of the day.  through doing that, i found someone's photostream who often posted pictures of her cute outfits and linked them up to the wardrobe_remix flickr group.  i started browsing through that group and i think that's how i found kasmira, then academichic... and then the style blogging community opened up.  this was fall 2007.  what about you guys?  i'd love to hear some of your stories!  and i definitely want to thank anyone out there who might stumble across this blog and add it to your own reader.
