i bought this blouse at target on saturday for regular price minus a $3 off merona coupon from the target website.  $19.99 for a blouse.  will you believe me when i tell you this is the 5th most expensive clothing item i have bought in the past 15 months?  the other four items were shoes.  it took a lot of convincing to buy this blouse, including:  it reminds me of j crew!  there are only two on the rack and only one in your size!  green is your favorite color!  it is perfect!  i pretty much sold it to myself in the store, but instead of continuing to try to sell it to myself now that it's been hanging on my closet door all weekend, staring at me, i'm telling myself that IT'S OKAY to buy something i really like once in a while, even if it's not on clearance or from the goodwill.

and can i just get a "what what" {yes, i just went there} for my first ever pattern mixing outfit?!  i kid you not about that either, this is the first time i have ever pattern mixed.  it's subtle and you wouldn't have been able to tell without the close up shot, but i kind of like that!  thanks for dropping by!

i'm trying really hard to get past this cold of mine.  last night i came home and rested on the couch, which was hard for me.  i am always going, going, going and i don't think i give my body enough time to rest without looking at a computer screen, an iphone screen, or even a book.  is anyone else like that?  maybe that is how i got sick in the first place, i was wearing my body down.  so i went to bed really early last night and i am trying to take better care of myself.  sometimes it ends up being good to experience these moments that intentionally force us to slow down (i love this jack johnson lyric: "slow down everyone, you're moving too fast").  i was thankful too that i had a home visit early this afternoon and was able to head home afterwards and work from home the rest of the day.  i always feel more comfortable in my own surroundings!  and as much as i love this skirt that i made on sunday, it was nice to swap it out for a pair of jeans.  have a great evening, everyone!

i thought i was doing pretty well keeping up posting everyday of the week until this week hit and i had family come into town and some pictures that just did not turn out well at all that i didn't want to post, so here's my final wrap up for the week!  i actually have a busy weekend ahead of me and look forward to sharing some details from it soon, including a trip to a local brewery, the state fair, and the goodwill of course--with my mom!  hope everyone is enjoying the start to their weekends!

this morning i went to a networking/educational presentation for continuing education credits for my licensure. it's always interesting to attend these types of events and to be surrounded by colleagues in my own field. like anyone who thinks a lot about their own personal style, i like to see how others in my field present themselves and, yeah, what they're wearing! unfortunately there are always few people close to my age whose attire i would be most interested in comparing/contrasting to my own and women 20-30 years older than me dress a lot differently than i do or would choose to at that age. i'm glad i wore this cute dress rather than playing it safe in black slacks and a boring top!

friday.

i didn't intend to only post every other day this week, but yesterday's photos didn't turn out and all and today's almost didn't, either.  the weather was so dark & ominous starting really early in the morning and i was lucky to catch a break in the rain to get out of the office to take these.  it's pretty obvious what the weather forecast was today by looking at my hair, oh my!  yep, rain and humidity make it frizz out in seconds.

also, i'm practically wearing head to toe merona {the purple belt is f21 and the hot pink shell is old navy} so i didn't think it was necessary to list out each item and its source.  my goodwill is really good to me since they stock so much target merch, but it doesn't really do much to diversify my wardrobe.  this is something i really want to try to focus on more in the upcoming months and to add a few more unique pieces to my wardrobe.
