so, i've never owned any clothing from forever 21 before but during my last two thrifting adventures i've found two pieces that i actually wanted to buy - yesterday's skirt and today's dress (worn as a blouse).  it caught my eye right away due to the pretty floral print and 3/4 sleeves.  i think it would look great with a maroon skirt, but since i don't have one of those i paired it with my orange one, which i haven't worn in a really long time.  i tried to balance out the brightness of the skirt with this brown blazer i wear all the time (almost as much as it's khaki counterpart) but i also still like how it looks without the blazer.  i've always liked forever 21 for accessories, mainly belts and bracelets (like the one i'm wearing today), but if you look hard enough they often have decent, quality clothing too.

have you found any good finds while thrifting lately?  tomorrow all tags are half off at goodwill, so i'm sure i'll make it to a couple stores.  just the way i like ringing in the new year!

oct 2 / i really had no idea what to wear this morning, which is always dangerous if i want to get to work on time, but before i fell asleep last night i was trying to think about what i could wear with this gray sheath dress.  of course i had to match the shoes, belt, and bracelet but i liked the aqua color of the cardigan against the gray.

july 16th {orange you glad...}

i wore this blouse about a month ago but failed to blog about it so i had to make sure that i did today! i was so drawn in by the gorgeous, colorful print and flowy style but almost bypassed it because it was a petite large.  i'm glad i hung onto it as it was a pretty easy task to zip up and down either side with my sewing machine to slim it to my size.  i think blouses like this are pretty forgiving as well (compared to perhaps a cotton button-down) and i don't think the shaky stitch i made is noticeable at all!

now, this skirt:  orange you glad i'm wearing orange again?!  :)  i had to order something from target.com a couple weeks ago and i'm so glad i quickly perused through the clothing and found one of my beloved doubleweave skirts on a major price cut.  it didn't take any contemplation at all to add this skirt to my cart.  i love comparing the look of this blouse with the jade green skirt the first time i wore it to this punchy orange.  next time, i think i'll pair it with magenta.

i am convinced that...

·  a bright, printed scarf instantly adds punch & interest to any outfit

·  a 30 degree day in the middle of winter is the greatest gift a minnesotan can receive

·  a bathroom squeegee works amazingly well to remove 3" of snow from your car {trust me!}

·  this skirt is way too short.  note to self:  i need a plain brown pencil skirt!

welcome back!  well, i guess i am really saying "welcome back" to myself since i was off all last week and am back at work today.  i'm wearing one of three things i thrifted at the goodwill down in georgia last week - this great j crew shell.  it looks like it's never been worn!  i thought the pairing with the pink cardigan and more subdued gray skirt worked well.  of course i struggled with what color tights + shoes to wear since nothing in my mind seemed to go but i'm pretty happy with what i settled on (the tights and shoes are both dark gray).  and huzzah for a 100% thrifted outfit (of high quality brands too, in my opinion).  i hope you all had a great holiday and have had a chance to enjoy some time off!  i'm off tomorrow, but look for a book review that i'll be posting of a book i read in a just a few short days last week.  thanks for visiting!
