even though i always find it kind of funny when i happen to wear clothes from all one brand because they coordinate so well together, i also really love how three items from three different stores can coordinate so well together like in this outfit!

so, one final story to share from my hanson weekend in tulsa a couple weeks ago.  i submitted a story explaining what one of their songs meant to me and was one of five fans selected to go on stage and talk about it with taylor.  no, taylor does not still look like this {but who would really mind if he did}.  my story was about how i was encouraged by one of their songs when i was in grad school to continue pursuing my master's in social work and entering a helping profession and it led into a conversation about how my career path parallels the meaning in one of hanson's songs - it was incredible!

it was such an awesome opportunity and came completely as a shock as i was the last person selected.  we didn't know ahead of time who would be chosen so by that time i figured my odds were pretty slim.  it was a complete blur walking up to the stage, hugging taylor, and figuring out how to talk into a microphone (why is that so awkward?!), haha.  luckily, i tracked down a fan in the audience on instagram afterwards who took a bunch of pictures and sent me these gems and my friend i traveled with took a video of our entire conversation, so the memories will never fade!

what i love most about fashion and honestly what keeps me interested in this blog is creating entirely different looks throughout the week that i feel equally confident in.  i can wear straight skinny jeans and a green blazer, a purple pencil skirt, or a flowy peasant top like today and feel awesome in each look.  i've always stood behind the notion of finding a personal style "uniform," and if you're lucky enough to have found yours that's awesome, but don't let it prevent you from continuing to try totally different looks!

i hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th of july yesterday!  i spent the day spectating at a half marathon my sister ran, then we spent a couple hours assembling a grill!  it was worth it in the end to enjoy a nice grilled meal but boy, was it intensive!  hopefully there aren't many more items we may purchase that require assembly because i'm getting kind of sick of using screwdrivers.  please bear with my blogging schedule though as i'm still figuring out the lighting in this space and trying to find time to put blog posts together when i am so exhausted by the end of the day.  i've said it before, but moving is hard!

this is an outfit i wore on thursday - how fun are these shoes?!  they felt a little bright at first but i got used to them throughout the day and they didn't feel any different from my brought coral shoes. i'd always rather be colorful and bright, though, i think it makes people (including me) happy!
 

there are a few colors in stock of these emma flats from target that are on clearance, plus if you buy any two clearance items you automatically get 10% off, so that is the deal i took advantage of when purchasing these shoes.  $17 seemed like a great deal for flats that are real leather and so comfortable!
