this outfit feels a little plain and uninspired but i had gotten home pretty late the previous night from a baseball game and didn't get much sleep and was basically dead to the world today.  i don't know what was wrong with me but i could barely keep my eyes open all day!  i must be getting old.  usually in these instances i grab this skirt but i felt like i just wore it.  on the other hand, i hadn't worn this blouse in a while so i just threw it on and that was that!  sometimes that's how my outfits come together.  nothing special, not much thought, just a practical need to get out the door.  curling my hair did help though as i find that usually elevates the way i feel about my look since my hair is getting pretty long and scraggly these days.

here's a fun picture from the game.  it was star wars night (may the 4th be with you - get it?).  there were people dressed up as darth vadar and storm troopers and the players had light sabers as bats in their pictures on the jumbo-tron.  i'm not particularly a star wars fan (i've only seen a couple of the newer movies with natalie portman) but the theme still made for a fun evening!  and we had awesome seats right behind our team's dugout!

so, this is by no means a styling "a-ha!"or anything, but sometimes i like to rotate my belts around so the buckle doesn't show in the front.  the belt still defines my waist but in a more streamlined way.  if you're wearing a blazer or cardigan, no one would ever see the buckle in the back and think you have forgotten how to wear a belt!  even though this isn't really considered a faux pas anymore either, sometimes i also like to do this if the metal color of the belt buckle doesn't match whatever jewelry i'm wearing (like today's silver necklace).

i really like this dress because it has sleeves (why are dresses with sleeves kind of hard to find?) but feels even more put together with this little blazer, which is also needed in my freezing office.  are you joining andi and i for dress week this week?  if so, add your link below!

today there was a holiday party over the lunch hours at my office building and staff were encouraged to wear an ugly christmas sweater.  do you guys get into this type of holiday party theme?  i didn't even put it on my calendar because i knew i would have no interest in participating, and since i worked form home yesterday i kind of forgot it was taking place today.  i'm not sure why ugly sweater parties are so popular these days but the potential of winning a prize for wearing the ugliest christmas sweater wasn't enough to draw me in.  so, don't mind me in my floral blazer and wool skirt.  what i really want to draw attention to anyway is my necklace that onecklace recently sent me!

i've long admired similar necklaces on some of my favorite bloggers and thought this was the perfect opportunity to add one to my jewelry collection.  i chose the small silver monogram necklace and i love that the size isn't overwhelming and just looks like a pretty, delicate piece of jewelry.  if i'm not wearing a statement necklace, i like to wear a simple chain (like this initial necklace from lisa leonard - no longer available, sadly) and i think the monogram necklace looks great layered with it.  and now i'm twice as likely to remember what my name starts with, haha!
