happy tuesday everyone!  this is a skirt i haven't worn in some time but admired for so long on whitney (missyourblogpleasebringitback). even though i eventually found my own on eBay, i haven't worn it that much... which is surprising because the chameleon olive/brown color seems to go with everything!  today i paired it with light and dark gray but i'd really like to wear it with my heathered purple or mauve sweater next.  are there items you pine after but then don't end up wearing much once you obtain them?

today marks day 4 of the patone-inspired fall color challenge marissa & i have been co-hosting this week.  today we should all be wearing carafe-colored clothing, right? this is one of those colors that stumped us for a while - is it brown?  olive green?  mossy green?  a combination of all three?  i knew right away that i wanted to go toward the olive green route, and this skirt was the perfect selection as in natural light, it even tends to look more brown than green.  i figured with this chameleon skirt that goes from green to brown it was the perfect selection for carafe.  i've worn it with a bunch of different colors, but this coral-pink was a new combination that i loved.

copycat / if there were ever a day to wear a skirt you've been lusting after for probably about a year after seeing it on your friend whitney, it should be on a friday! {i've never wanted to add something to my wardrobe more than this skirt & i finally found one recently on ebay!}

this week my friend whitney from between the lines and i will be participating in a challenge to style some of each other's clothes that we get stuck wearing the same way over & over.  this is one of her skirts that i have been an admirer of each time i see her wear it.  my subliminal messages must have gotten through to her because she sent it my way for our challenge.  of course, once i got it, i wasn't sure how i would style it.  i didn't want to recreate an exact replica of one of whitney's outfits, but i didn't want to play it too safe either.  

i love how whitney paired this skirt with colors like lavender, sea foam green, and pinkish red.  i was still stuck, though.  whenever i am not sure what color to wear with an item, i always reference academichic's color tutorials.  all i needed was to see was the photo on the bottom of this tutorial highlighting analogous color combinations and i knew i could pull that off with this skirt.  so, i am adding navy & teal to the mix here.  i'm starting to think any color would look great with this skirt!  what do you all think?
