as much as i loved all of the aspects of this outfit (navy + maroon, gray lace top, coordinating necklace), the outfit just did not photograph well... and the judge has ruled against these pants!  i always feel great when i wear them, but they never look good in photographs, whether it's because i take my pictures at the end of a long work day and i'm emotionally and physically rumpled or just because they don't fit me all that well?  i don't know.  i certainly don't look like the model, but i still want to wear cute patterned pants and clothes i find online that appeal to me.  it's hard not to compare yourself to the models you see on a clothing apparel's website and say, "i wish i looked like that wearing that," isn't it??  well, i'm sure this could lead into a much bigger discussion about marketing and body types, but i think i'm definitely going to keep these pants around and continue wearing them with confidence even if i don't look like the model below:

a few weeks ago i solicited your advice on a dress to wear to my cousin's wedding in a few weeks.  i ended up not going with any of the dresses i'd originally highlighted when the one i liked the most ended up selling out in my size, but i quickly found another dress at a more reasonable price -- this one.  of course i'm not going to wait until the wedding to wear it for the first time, nor will that be the only time i wear it, as i think it will be a great dress to wear to work!  there are a lot of different colors to accent with and since our high temps this week are hovering around the low 50s i decided to dust off my tights and try this look with some olive colored booties and matching belt.

it will probably be just as chilly at the end of the month so i anticipate wearing black tights, black shoes, and a black blazer to the wedding.  honestly, i know no one is going to pay attention to what i'm wearing so i'm no longer worried if it's "wedding attire" enough!  i'm just glad to have found a fun dress at a decent price!

goodness, i have been a terrible blogger these past few days.  getting dressed has been a major challenge.  see evidence above.  yikes.  i'm talking swapping out multiple pieces in an original outfit before finally, finally just settling on something that works.  those types of mornings really frustrate me.  maybe i need to put more planning into what i wear each day...

simple / sometimes i come to a standstill of how to talk about the clothes that i wear or the reasons why i pair certain pieces together and how it makes me feel... yada, yada, yada.  sometimes it's just as simple as, "i felt great in this outfit" and "i love how this came together!" and it doesn't need a really long explanation.  so, that is what i am giving you today: a simple outfit & a simple post.  i hope your week is off to a great start!

i thought about prefacing this post by apologizing for wearing this outfit before, but you know what... i'm not sure that anyone reading this would have known that i have!  i'm a pretty perceptive person but week after week, i can't remember what my coworker who i share an office with wears and i highly doubt that people who look at pictures of me on the internet really remember what i wear either.  isn't that weird, when all of us are so into personal style & following others' whose personal style influences our own?  or maybe i'm totally off.  either way, welcome to my life where i really love pairing this denim-like dress with  maroon and these heels, which were a smashing hit everywhere i went today.  i really think we all need fabulous heels in our closets and i find a lot of great pairs at payless!  i'm thinking about ordering these two pairs since there's a BOGO going on  right now and i found another coupon code online... i'd prefer the navy pair that also come in yellow, but my size isn't available.  decisions, decisions... feel free to weigh in!
