monday (redeemed)

old navy cardigan {thrifted}   ·   merona bow blouse {thrifted target stock}
semantiks skirt {thrifted}   ·   mossimo wanda wedges

i definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  i was worried about a home visit i had this morning and the topic i needed to discuss with a non-english speaking client and her son - i was dreading it.  i was also far too concerned about what to wear.  i always stick with slacks and shoes i can wear socks with when i visit my culturally diverse clients as it is more customary to remove my shoes at their door but i didn't want to lose any confidence by wearing something i didn't feel that great in or excited about.  i felt that the compromise of tights instead of slacks & socks worked okay and ended up being completely appropriate within my client's home environment.  the one time i met with one of my non-english speaking clients in a skirt and flats {this day}, i did not remove my shoes and i felt extremely disrespectful and uncomfortable the entire visit.  i knew about this norm but ignored it for whatever reason that day, which i felt really ignorant about afterwards.  i will never be an expert in the culture of those who i work with, but a lot of conversation and research will help me learn and i always try to start out on the right foot by obeying some of the most common norms.  and it turns out that the topic of discussion i was so concerned about this morning was resolved before i got there, so we were able to move forward and have a really great visit.  isn't it funny how things like that work out?  i'm so glad my day ended better than i allowed it to begin!

disclaimer: yep, same blouse i wore friday but in a different print.  and sorry for the lumpy sweater!

wednesday.

merona crossover tee {coupons available here}  old navy cardigan {thrifted}
merona slacks {thrifted target stock}   target necklace   dexter kylie wedges
today was one of those days where i hadn't really thought about what i was going to wear before bed and i had a moment of dread as i stood before my closet trying to dream up an outfit.  i snagged this printed tee at target for $4 on monday {you can still get it at this price as well as it is on sale for $7 this week and there is a $3 off merona clothing item available via the link above} and just threw it on with coordinating slacks and a cardigan.  good enough for a wednesday!  my closet is lacking in short sleeved tops that i know will be much needed in another month or so when summer really hits, so i'm glad i picked this one up for such a crazy reasonable price.  i think the colors & print is really fun - i can't wait to wear it with my favorite banana republic navy skirt!

wednesday.

 merona cecila skirt   isaac mizrahi scalloped blouse {thrifted}
old navy cardigan {thrifted}   mossimo valonia pumps {thrifted target stock}

i was really happy when i realized that i had another cardigan in my closet that matches one of the colors in this skirt perfectly.  for me, having skirts like this in my wardrobe that i can easily pull a coordinating cardigan on with makes obvious sense, but i still get to have some creativity with it by focusing on different colors.  this outfit couldn't have been easier to throw on & i felt great in it all day.  have a nice evening!

wednesday (pants: take three)

 old navy cardigan, blouse, and scarf {thrifted}
merona slacks {thrifted target stock}   blowfish blyth booties
honestly, it's only mid-week and i am already sick of wearing slacks.  i feel less creative, as opposed to when i'm wearing a skirt with a fun or colorful print.  enter:  fun accessory.  i found this scarf at the goodwill in georgia a couple weeks ago, i knew it was old navy immediately from the print and i really liked the price tag of $1.91.  i love how you can pick out the navy, teal, green, or magenta colors to base the rest of your outfit around.  i certainly don't need to be wearing a scarf in my new environment since i am constantly on the go, but it is still a nice accessory with a fun print - something i've been missing in all of my skirts that i'm not wearing since this is pants week!  thanks for joining me!
