monday (pants)

 gap outlet striped blouse {thrifted}   mossimo ultra soft cardigan {thrifted target stock}
merona slacks {thrifted target stock}   mossimo virginia pumps  {thrifted target stock}

sometimes i just have to tell myself that pants don't have to be boring! i've noticed that dress pants don't have much of a place in this style blogging community, or maybe i just haven't found a niche of bloggers who have jobs like me or who like to wear non-colored, non-skinny, non-leopard printed pants.  so here i am, proclaiming my love for a well-fitting pair of dress slacks.  and that they don't have to be boring!  you just have to make the rest of your outfit interesting!  here's what i wore today.  i love the combination of the navy + mustard yellow + maroon {see a detail shot of the blouse in this post}.  when it got warm and i took my cardigan off, i still felt put together since the blouse has some visual interest to it.  have a great evening!

wednesday (the printed pumps)

merona dora dress {thrifted target stock}   mossimo ultra soft cardigan
lela rose for payless madison printed pumps   target necklace

although this outfit looks remarkably similar to this one that i wore two weeks ago (oops), let's just ignore that and focus on these SHOES for a minute.  who knew they would be such a hit?  who knew people paid so much attention to other people's footwear?  i walked past one person's office and she literally called my name after i had passed by to say, "i love your shoes!"  one of my older adult clients even liked them!  i have to say that i kind of love them too.  have you gotten any new shoes lately that have received quite a reaction from others?

wednesday (someone else)

there is something about navy & maroon being paired together that comes across very much like a uniform to me... like i could be a flight attendant or a private school student (if i had a crest of some sort on the lapel of my cardigan and oxford shoes) or in a music video in the late 1990s.  remember when all of the hip hoppers had the synchronized dancers behind them and they all wore matching outfits, like white tee shirts and khaki pants?  that's gotta be a mya video or something.  maybe they still do that, but i don't know how i would find out.  does mtv or vh1 even show music videos anymore?  these are all things i need to look into for the days when i just don't feel like being a social worker, but thankfully right now that's working out well for me!

wednesday (wrapped)

merona wrap dress {thrifted}   mossimo ultrasoft cardigan
target belt {thrifted target stock}   american eagle myles riding boots

this is what i wore to work on saturday.  i had to put in some hours and get a few things done since i am on vacation this week.  late last week, i was going through a spreadsheet where i track the clothing & accessories i purchase and realized that i hadn't work this dress yet - i picked it up at the goodwill in april!  i was drawn to the print and wrap style, and even though it felt a little too short i thought i could deal with it.  well, not unless i'm wearing tights and tall boots, apparently, so i had to wait until winter.  plus, i'll admit it... it got lost in that dark side of my closet where all my dresses hang.  the length isn't that bad now that i'm looking at it (and boy, i thought that cardigan matched better!), but i might still turn it into a skirt.

do you track your purchases & spending throughout the year?  it's been an enlightening process for me, i hope to share some of my learnings later this week if i can find a way to consolidate them.  have a good one!
