doing good.

so many things at my workplace have been changing lately.  numerous staff retiring (hey potlucks) or quitting and going to work elsewhere.  it makes me wonder if new employees will make the building better or if it will lead to more growing pains before an eventual change. i crave change and new ideas and better protocols and improved communication but it feels like it takes so long to get there and it's always dependent on the attitude of the employees (old & new) and how much they buy into a culture shift.  i feel a bit stuck in the middle now and most days lately i've just been trying to stay above it all so i don't sink so low that i also start job searching.

i recently came across this verse from galatians 6:9: “and let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up” and found it was exactly what i needed to read and the exact message i needed to take to heart lately.  what's the environment like where you work?

fleece dress.

old navy sleeveless fleece dress
gap button down
our world boutique necklace
merona madeline flats

it is rare that i buy dresses from old navy anymore because they always end up being too short on me, but something about this dress stood out to me so i figured i'd give the tall size a try... and i love it!  the fabric is so soft and forgiving and it ended up being the perfect length.  i'm glad to have a nice fitting dress like this in my closet that is bound to prove its versatility.  i kept it pretty standard today with the black button down underneath but i liked the magenta stones in the necklace that match the belt and the gold accents on my shoes, necklace, and belt hardware.  if you are at all interested in this dress (link below), it's currently on clearance for $14.97 and you can use the code "treat" for an extra 15% off, lucky gals!

tuesday {neutrals}

this is what i wore to work on tuesday, but it was not what i wanted to wear.  at all.  i had on a different skirt that i realized was dark brown, not black, about five minutes before i wanted to head out the door.  i suppose i could have changed into brown tights, but at that point i figured it easier to slip on a new skirt that wrangle out of tights and into a new pair.  instead i tried on about three different skirts before settling on this one as it matched well enough with the gray sweater.  ordinarily i wouldn't have posted this outfit since i felt so uninspired and boring, but it's a good reminder to myself that hey, it's okay.  and now, looking back on it a day later, i actually kind of like it!

it also felt a little redeeming when one of my coworkers said, "i like your bracelet!" and i was able to reply, "it's actually a belt!"  learned that trick from dotty - thanks, lady.  i'm not sure if my coworker though it was "cool" or not but at least it gave me reason to think my outfit wasn't totally dullsville boring.

have a great week!
