payless FTW.

merona sweater {thrifted target stock}
loft floral skirt {thrifted}
american eagle (payless brand) heels

i love wearing these shoes so much because i never now what reaction they'll elicit from people.  today i was contemplating the numerous varieties of coffee at target (a chai spice coffee?  what the what!) and a woman passing by the aisle came up to me and said she loved these shoes!  she said she had a similar burgundy pair when she was younger and loved the strap across the foot.  i said that's exactly why i love them - they stay on my feet.  she also said they also looked very "downton".  haha!  i absolutely love random connections with strangers, so i'm so glad this lady approached me.  and another win for these payless heels!

i've said it before, but payless is definitely one of my favorite places to shop for shoes.  i'm in the market for a new pair of plain nude wedges and thought to check out payless first, and though i didn't find what i was looking for i came across these gems... bring on a bogo, payless!

currently...

so i've never really done one of these posts before, but i love my pal anne over at in residence and just had to participate in her "currently..." theme post today!  plus, it's always nice when you have the skeleton of a post developed for you and you just have to fill in the blanks!

wearing // these favorite patterned pants of mine and a coordinating sweater and mary jane heels.

writing //  fictional stories.  have i ever mentioned that i love writing?  i've written stories for as long as i can remember, but in the past few years i feel as though i have actually thought of plotlines that actually turn into something and i love exploring and honing this hobby.  it makes me wonder why i never participate in nanowrimo, but maybe i will this year to really force me to develop one of the many ideas i have rough outlines for.

anticipating  // the zubaz night at the minnesota twins game in a week.  did you ever own a pair of zubaz pants?  i don't think i ever did, but i'm kind of beyond thrilled to receive this pair and don them at the game with a bunch of other crazy fans.

missing // the minnesota state fair.  fried pickles, cheese curds, corn dogs... even though it's kind of the same rodeo every year, i miss it already and wish i had another day to experience it all.

craving // reading "fangirl" by rainbow rowell... it just came up in my queue but wouldn't you know i am already in the middle of a book and have several others that are also ready for me to check out and read?  she pretty much can do no wrong and i am so eager to get lost in this book!

weekend casual.

mossimo sweater   ·   xhiliration blouse {similar}
old navy sweetheart jeans   ·   mossimo ona flats

i wore this to work friday of this week but this is also pretty similar to how i dress on the weekends.  the focus of my blog has always really been on what i wear to work so my weekend outfits have definitely taken a back seat.  i try to dress business casual during the workweek, but i think dressing "weekend casual" is important to me too.

i've only worn this peter pan collar top once before - it is a lace blouse that doesn't have a lining and is a bit cropped, so i haven't found many ways to wear it until i finally had one of those fashion aha moments and decided to layer it under something else like i would with a button-down blouse.  i love the cute little collar peeking over the goldish colored sweater!

enjoy your weekend!

march 20th {lacy}

xhilaration peter pan collar lace top   ·   merona doubleweave skirt
old navy linen blazer {thrifted}   ·   merona mariela heels {thrifted}

i've been hanging onto this cute lace top for a couple weeks now and today was the perfect day to stop neglecting it and wear it for marionberry's trend of the month challenge: lace!  i know i've basically hidden the entire blouse under the blazer and scarf, but it is a cute top despite being a little too short - it is a junior's brand, after all.  i imagine it will work okay for me though as i'll still be able to tuck it into skirts.  i've wanted to add a lace top to my wardrobe for a while and i think i will definitely get a lot of wear out of this one!  i think navy & magenta always look great together too, so this turned out to be one of my favorite recent outfits (except the snagged tights).  thanks for dropping by!
